Hair Transplant Cost / Prices
The cost of a hair transplant in the UK varies depending typically on a couple of factors:
- the amount of hair loss and
- the area(s) that it is located in.
- the hair type (afro hair tends to be much trickier to extract and implant so carries an extra cost)
The NHS website states that the cost varies from £1,000 to £30,000 which is quite a large bracket that most (if not all uk clinics) fall in. Typically most clinics will start from around £3,000.
Contrary to popular belief, hair transplant surgery doesn’t have to break the bank. Prices can vary based on the patient and their specific surgery requirements, acknowledging the uniqueness of each individual. In the UK, the cost of a hair transplant typically ranges from £3,000 to £10,000, depending on the patient’s needs. After all, everyone’s requirements for hair implantation surgery are different.
Our Pricing start from £3,000 for 1000 hairs.

There are typically three different types of hair transplant surgery that is undertaken with their respective prices:
Hair Transplants Methods
Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) (What We Recommend)
The FUE method is the procedure of carefully extracting hair follicles from the donor area (typically the back and sides of the head). Once the extraction is done, the hair follicles are transplanted on the scarred or balding area.
This method is what we recommend at Hair Transplant Birmingham.
The price of FUE procedure varies from different clinics. The price highly depends on the extent of the hair loss condition. For your information, the cost of each follicle is around £2 to £4
Follicular Unit Transplant (FUT
Another known method for hair transplant is the Follicular Unit Transplant (FUT). This difference with this method and FUE is the extraction phase. With FUT, the extraction is done by excising a strip of hair in order to extract the grafts from the donor area. The implantation method is the same as with FUE.
FUT is a more invasive surgery method in comparison to the other 2. For your information, the cost of each follicle is around £2 to £5.
The disadvantage of this method is it leaves a scar on the donor area.
Direct Hair Implant Technique (DHI)
The Direct Hair Implant Technique is very similar to the FUE method. The difference here is with the implanting. It is done with a special tool called the Choi pen. Extraction is done the same way as with FUE.
This method can cost you around £6,000. The cost of each follicle is around £2 to £6. More expensive compares to the other transplants.
DHI method is almost the same as FUE.
